A wonderful antique Georgian period English, solid sterling silver (tests) ring; beautifully made, with high quality thick silver band, oversized, pierced flower-shaped head and set with fabulous glistening rose-cut diamonds, eagerly displaying the silvery flashes so sought after and only found in this type of stone. The diamonds spread roughly 60pts (0.6 carats) together, though due to their cut will weigh less. Probably originally a button or similar, the ring band was added in the Edwardian period. It dates from around 1780 or earlier and is in excellent, fully wearable condition throughout, with no loss or damage. It weighs 5.7 grams, its head measures 22 mm in diameter and its ring size is 6 ¾ US / N ½ UK – easily resized one or two sizes either way if needed. The final photo shows it with a US penny (1 cent) coin for scale, which measures 19 mm / ¾ of an inch diameter.
